The following examples are from my own past projects that would demonstrate one of the fifteen categories within the 2019 OU Interior Design Portfolio categories.
This was a blog post assignment for a Portfolio I course to make preparations for sophomore year portfolio review. This was previously posted on Interior Design Portfolio Website I created in the Spring of 2020. (Original date: January 22, 2020)

Category 2 - Students are able to: synthesize information and generate multiple concepts and/or multiple design responses to programmatic requirements. Students are able to: demonstrate creative thinking through presentation of a variety of ideas, approaches, and concepts.
This example shown is the process of word mapping to develop a concept. There is one main idea or object and multiple ideas coming from said object or main idea. The organization of the image use color to separate different steps of where the words came from, filling the frame with information, and rule of space with the different lines leading the eye to a new idea.

Category 5 - Students are able to analyze and communicate theories or concepts of spatial definition and organization.
This example shown is the process of spatial organization. There is one example of each type: Linear, Radial, Clustered, Grid, and Centralized. The images are arranged using the centralized and radial techniques. The organization of the images use negative space to emphasize the individual images, symmetry, and minimalism.

Category 8 - Students have awareness of: industry-specific regulations. Student work demonstrates understanding of laws, codes, and standards that impact fire and life safety, including movement: access to the means of egress including stairwells, corridors, exit ways. Students apply federal, state/provincial, and local codes. Students apply standards.
This example displays the use of building codes needed in the design. It includes, but not limited to: Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the International Building Codes (IBC) 2018. The images are arranged in the order of board presentation. The organization of the images use negative space to emphasize the individual images, asymmetry, and visual hierarchy.

Category 10 - Students apply a variety of communication techniques and technologies appropriate to a range of purposes and audiences. Students are able to express ideas clearly in written communication. Students are able to express ideas clearly through visual media (ideation drawings and sketches).
This example demonstrates a variety on communication techniques. These techniques include visual media or sketches and written communication. The organization of the images use visual hierarchy, negative space to emphasize the individual images, and the balance of inspirational images and the final product.

Category 12 - Students are able to layout and specify furniture, fixtures, and equipment.
This example demonstrates FF&E. The construction document contains the floor plans with labeled furniture and the specifications of materials used for each piece of furniture in the schedule. The organization of the images use negative space to emphasize the individual images, rule of thirds, frame within a frame, and minimalism.
